Episode 1 | Eruption (Submarine)
1962 Mar 5 - 1962 Mar 5 Evidence from Observations: Seismicity
A large rhyolitic pumice raft encountered on 14 March 1962 was thought to have originated from an eruption at a location later referred to as Protector Shoal. The speed and direction of ocean currents suggested that site, where an earthquake was detected on 5 March (Gass et al., 1963).
